Filming in Dominica

Permits, locations and the customs treatment of production equipment.

Dominica has been used for feature films, documentaries and commercials, mostly for its rainforest, rivers, volcanic coastline and unmodernised village streets. Production is coordinated through the Government of Dominica, and the Consulate can start the process for European crews.

What a production needs

A filming permit application describing the production, the locations and the dates.

A crew list with passport details and, where applicable, work permissions.

A customs carnet or bond for cameras, drones and lighting brought into the country.

Separate clearance for filming inside national parks and the World Heritage site.

Proof of public liability insurance.

Lead time

Allow at least six weeks for a straightforward shoot and longer where drones, protected areas or road closures are involved.
