Welcome Message
From the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
In his message to visitors and investors, the Prime Minister describes Dominica as a developing island nation midway down the Eastern Caribbean archipelago, with the fertile soil, forest and vistas that earned it the name Nature Island of the Caribbean.
A diversified economy
The message sets out the government’s move away from an economy that depended on agriculture towards a balance of product and service output, supported by legislation written for international business and by staff trained to work with foreign investors.
Tourism and investment
The Prime Minister points to hotels, villas and resorts as the clearest openings for investment, alongside services, manufacturing and export. He invites investment that creates jobs and lasting growth rather than short term returns.
On the citizenship programme
Established in 1993 as the Economic Citizenship Programme.
A real estate variant added in 2013 to channel funds into approved developments.
A streamlined Citizenship by Investment Unit established in October 2014.
Due diligence strengthened, with interviews reserved for cases that warrant one.
