New Biometric Passport

The current Dominica passport is an electronic document that meets ICAO standards.

The biometric passport carries a contactless chip holding the same personal details printed on the data page, together with a facial image. The chip is what lets you use automated border gates in countries that accept the document.

What changes for the applicant

A digital photograph and signature are captured at the Consulate rather than supplied loose.

Photograph specifications are strict: plain background, no glasses, neutral expression.

Older machine readable passports remain valid until their expiry date.

Damaged chips cannot be repaired; the passport has to be replaced.
