Pay As You Earn
The employer’s obligation to deduct income tax at source.
P.A.Y.E. is the system by which employers in Dominica deduct income tax from wages and salaries and remit it to the Inland Revenue Division. It applies from the first employee.
An employer must
Register with the Inland Revenue Division before the first payday.
Obtain a tax identification number for each employee.
Apply the current tax tables and allowances to each payment.
Remit deductions by the statutory monthly deadline.
File an annual return reconciling deductions with wages paid.
Issue each employee a statement of earnings and deductions.
Penalties
Late remittance attracts interest and penalties, and directors can be held personally responsible for amounts deducted but not paid over.
