Getting Married in Dominica

What a couple needs before a marriage on the island is valid.

Documents

Valid passports for both parties.

Birth certificates.

Proof of the dissolution of any previous marriage: decree absolute or death certificate.

A sworn declaration of single status where required.

Parental consent for a party under eighteen.

Timing

Couples must normally be on the island for at least two days before the ceremony. A special marriage licence is required if you have been in Dominica for less than the standard residence period.

After the ceremony

The marriage is registered locally and a certificate is issued by the Registry. If you need the certificate recognised in Greece, it must be apostilled in Dominica and then translated.
