Special Marriage Licence
The shortened route for couples marrying in Dominica while visiting.
A special marriage licence allows a couple to marry without completing the standard residence period. It is the route most visiting couples use, and it is granted by the Attorney General’s Chambers.
What to submit
Application for the special licence, signed by both parties.
Valid passports and birth certificates.
Evidence that any previous marriage has ended.
A declaration of single status where required.
Details of the officiant and the venue.
Payment of the licence fee.
Practical points
Both parties normally need to have been in Dominica for at least two days.
Two witnesses over eighteen must attend the ceremony.
The certificate is issued after registration and can be apostilled for use abroad.
