Maritime Registry
Foreign Maritime Entities
Registering a company formed elsewhere so that it can own a Dominica flag vessel.
A foreign maritime entity is a company incorporated outside Dominica that registers with the Dominica registry in order to own or operate a vessel under the flag. It avoids re-incorporating the owning company in a new jurisdiction.
Requirements
Certificate of incorporation and constitutional documents, certified.
Certificate of good standing from the place of incorporation.
Register of directors and shareholders, or equivalent.
Appointment of a registered agent in Dominica.
Resolution authorising the registration.
Effect
Once registered, the entity may hold title to a Dominica flag vessel and grant mortgages recorded on the Dominica register, while keeping its original corporate identity.
